Beacon Detection
Signals from our phototransistors pass through two amplification stages (each with low pass) and a high pass filter before being fed through a comparator with hysteresis to our E128. When this circuit was combined with our software, our detectors could correctly identify a beacon anywhere from six inches to twelve feet away! For more on the physical layout of the phototransistors, see the mechanical page on beacon detection.
